Photographer's Note

Dunstanburgh Castle in Northumberland, shot near high tide, on a perfect late summer evening.

The sun had set about half an hour before this shot was taken, leaving only a thin strip of warm light around the horizon.

A long exposure of 30 seconds has turned the sea to mist, while the cool blue light adds to the peaceful mood.

Very little post-processing done - just levels and sharpening in Photoshop after scanning the original slide. The blue colour cast is partly the result of the cloudy conditions, and partly from the Fuji Velvia film used, which shifts towards blue and magenta with longer exposures.
