Dolphin watching, a photo from North Yorkshire, England

Photographer's Note

I like to invent misleading titles. If you expected beautiful sea creatures floating around, you will be disappointed. The Dolphin is a name of the hotel which you could see wider in my previous photo:

In this photo you can see a fragment of its façade with the lovely red-green color combination. There is an inscription “The Dolphin” on it but it is not possible to read from this angle. I checked the older photos of it on the internet and I found that at least in April 2019 there was no green color on the façade at all. The banner “The Dolphin” had a different font and was gold on black background. The elements with lilies under the windows were white. The renovation must have happened within last two years. Even older photos showed that the green elements may have been blue or red before, but I wasn’t able to follow up on that.
The picture was taken from the south east end of the bridge presented before and the view is to the south of the bridge with some harbour fragment in the distance.

This hotel has a marvelous bay scenery, mariusz, and I kind of learnt to like Whitby town and its location. Beautiful small waterfront town, painted in vivid colors all around as saw on the map as it view the bridge and across.
Nicely a.llocated the picture space, fine outcome as always.

Hello Mariusz, an original presentation from Whitby, with the eye catching green paintwork of the hotel.
Excellent sharpness as we can clearly see the harbour with the moored boats, and even beyond to the houses on the hillside. The sunshine enhances the whole scene.

In your comment about my Laundry day shot, you refer to me as ‘he’, no it should read ‘she’.

The photo is really well balanced between the façades at left and the view of the calm sea and the town and port in the distance. The light and clarity are just perfect, which resulted in good colours as well.

Ladne detale nadmorskiej architektury. Trudno poznac budynek hotelu z tym sprzed dwoch lat i na zdjeciu jeszcze rzeka a nie morze ;)
Ciekawa prezentacja.

a funny title indeed.
a nice image showing the façade, even with personages, and the local landscape with the houses. the blue-green façade and these adornments are very interesting.

Hello Mariusz,
I had not recognised the house that was already visible in your previous picture.
I suppose you must have a good view of the water and the riverbanks from several rooms of this hotel.
In the best case scenario, I could only afford a small room at the rear. In the best case.
Actually, there are quite a few boats moored.

Sensational composition, I like how you have composed the view with the foreground of part of the hotel's facade, which gives a great chromatism, with those viewpoints in white and green, then a great perspective with the view of the port in the distance, which From here it gives a beautiful effect.
A great color, with magnificent lighting management and good sharpness to capture the details.

if you wanted great lighting, this is it. those odd colors really are striking. too bad there aren't any large bubble clouds in the sky to eat up that empty space, but that's out of your control. sharp, colorful, and an interesting subject. nice one
