I have recently shared several archival photos taken in pre-digital times in California where I lived for a couple of years. I sort of got used to the quality of the print scans, but yesterday I went for a walk in Whitby, a harbour town nearby, and the clarity and sharpness of my new photos taken there, were suddenly so much better.

I have shared already few photos from Whitby with its most important sights HERE. This photo does not show anything particular but I really like the light, and with the high tide and almost no wind, the reflections were adding a lovely touch. I suppose what this photo demonstrates again is that sometimes it is not important what you photograph but what light conditions you have. Sadly while in a trip, you cannot always influence the conditions. But this is why I think local tourism is of such a great value. In your local area there is a bigger probability to be there at great light conditions.

I have never heard about Whitby before coming to England, but locally it is so popular = crowded that many local people avoid it. The best way to enjoy Whitby is to be there in the morning before the crowds arrive.
