Photographer's Note

Another Captain Cook photo. The Endeavour was the ship Cook used for his first round-the-world voyage and his most famous. This photo is of the replica from Australia; it periodically goes round the world calling at Whitby, its first "home". As far as I know there are no plans for a return.
It was a coincidence that we were at Sandsend as the Endeavour was making its way to Whitby last Spring. It was quite a misty day and the ship was still quite well out. It was my pre-SLR days so used the Ixus with full optical and full digital zoom. Obviously this caused excessive noise. I actually quite like the mood, the mist and the noise conveys
PP cropped, selected the sea only and sharpened, inverted the selection and added a median filter to try and deal with the noise in the sky, slight curves to add more contrast.

This is my last post for a while as I am going away. I have added this shot to the Captain Cook theme. Anyone out there with Cook related photos please add to the theme; it would be interesting to see contributions from Australia, New Zealand South Sea Islands, Canada, Hawaii etc
