Photographer's Note

A world away from the Californian Bay Watch, these two young men are keeping an eye open for anyone in difficulties on this, the hottest day of the year so far. Generally this is a dangerous coastline, and most of the year red flags are flying, warning people not to swim because of strong undercurrents. During the summer months, when the local authority employs lifeguards, two flags, coloured both yellow and red are flown, telling people they can swim in the area between them; the lifeguards wear red and yellow outfits to enable people to recognise them.
The structure beyond the lifeguards is Saltburn Pier, which has featured before in my posts. Beyond the pier are people on green and white deck chairs hired from a nearby shop; this also is a typical sight on a British beach on a hot summer's day.
PP straightened, cropped added contrast and brightness with curves (needed as it was a hazy heat)
