Photographer's Note

I am finishing off my Runswick Bay series with a wide-angle view taken from the beach. Here you can see how some of the detailed shots fit into the whole. For information about the village here. To see what it looks like among the tightly arranged houses look here.
On this picture the white coastguard's cottage can be seen on the far right. Look here for a closer view. Nearest to the shore you can see a father and son fishing. For a closer look see here
Also on the picture is the fortifications to keep the sea and its erosive effects at bay, and the Lifeboat Station (centre-right) with the blue doors. On the top of the cliff is the Cliff Mount Hotel. If you eat there ask for a window table as the views are spectacular.
While we were walking on the beach we met some friends and stopped to chat. When we returned the tide had come in and the path you can see was cut off by the sea. We were not the only ones caught out and there was much amusement as we paddled to dry land.
