Photographer's Note

one of my favourite places to visit and to take photographs is the South Gare, (or the 'breakies' to the locals) in the n.e. england near redcar. it is fantastic mix of industry and nature. these steel works sit on the edge of Bran Sands on the River Tees which is one of the busiest ports in the country.
along the sands you can find disused bunkers, a wartime gunsite, a lighthouse, fisherman's huts and boats, shipwrecks and lots of odds and sods tossed up on the beach.
my dad started to bring me and my sister here when we were kids for a play in the sand dunes. now we visit with our cameras, watch the passing tankers coming in, visit Paddy's Hole, complain when the sea is calm, moan when it is to windy and to cold to leave the comfort of the car but we always manage come home with a camera full of photos!
this place has a lot of great memories for me and when i go home i will always try and get my dad to take me down there and he will, if there is enough petrol in the car!!!
