Photographer's Note
Just to be perfectly clear: I always follow the rules.
Even if I find them ridiculous.
As a scientist, you must learn to challenge the status quo, to doubt authorities and to ask unpopular questions. Sometimes people ask me: can you believe in God and be a scientist at the same time? Yes, you can. Science and religion describe two different worlds. The beauty and order in the natural world may inspire you to believe in God. What is very challenging though is for a true scientist to blindly follow the orders. It is not that explanations coming from religion do not go well with the current state of knowledge. It is that religion wants you to follow the orders without asking questions. This is why even though being a believer in God, I had to distance myself from religion. I have a lot of respect for tradition, but I realize that a big chunk of it comes from people who are narrow-minded and sometimes simply stupid.
This attitude touches also other aspects of life. If somebody tells me that I can save lives by leaving home only either for work, or for essential shopping, or to exercise in the local area. I will follow the rules. The current rule says that I will save lives by not going inside the park but going with my daughter for a walk around the park instead. I am happy to help. This is a photo I took today along the walk around the park which I see from my windows. It was taken alongside the most expensive street in Middlesbrough, The Grove. The street encircles the park from the southeast. While the spacious park was empty, we met on the way some people who were exercising, jogging or walking around the park. Everybody kept a decent distance from each other.

Hi Mariusz,in Italy the good results are slow to come and some doubts also start to come to me about the effectiveness of the measures to be respected. I appreciate your notes and the photo is also very beautiful, you live in a nice neighborhood without a doubt. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Great picture from close to where you live, it seems. Lovely houses & blue sky. No laws broken, even though a scientists job is to test the laws and try to prove them wrong, no? Anyway, I suppose that's the difference between scientific laws, whichare a hypothesis, and social laws, which are a fact of life & we just have to deal with it.
Take care
Benny

Hello Mariusz,
I took some strolls too the last couple of days, but at quiet moments, so I didn't meet many people and the ones I met I walked around in a big circle. A lovely view of this really English street with these partly half-timbered houses and some young green leaves in the early spring trees. The light was lovely too.

Hi M,
Thanks for reminding me that we're sometimes schooled on tradition from the simplest of us. Such a blessing we can all ride on this beautiful TE boat together.
Cheers, John

Hello Mariusz,
You have written a very thoughtful and thought provoking note and also given us a delightful photograph to admire.
This street looks to be a lovely place along which to take a walk, even although it is quite a shame that you are now being prevented from visiting the park which this street overlooks.
Here we have many lovely country walks which, since I retired, I have been taking every week with a group of equally ancient friends - but almost all of these walks are a few miles away from our homes and we require transport to get us there - so, naturally, we are no longer allowed to travel to these places. And quite rightly so.
So now, like yourself, I am limited to just pacing the streets alone around about where we live - and no longer enjoying the company of my friends. I greatly miss my regular Wednesday walking days but, if that's what it takes to help ameliorate the effects of this pandemic, so be it.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Mariusz,
As a Biology teacher I'm confronted on a regular base with students who claim that evolution is 'just" a theory, always a good base to explain what a scientific theory just is.
On the other hand, some friends of mine tend to use science as a religion, claiming it proves God does not exist.
Nice street,
Thanks and regards,
Gerrit

Hello Mariusz,
How sensible you are being.
If you do not contact other people, other than your immediate family, there is no chance of you picking up the virus to spread to others, by that means.
I know it is a pain, I miss meeting friends, going out for walks and doing communal gardening, which we did weekly, but as one person pointed out, - it is better to miss your friends and family for a few weeks/months than never to miss them forever!
This is a lovely photograph of your city.
The weather was glorious, with a bright blue sky acting as a backdrop to these houses, which I would imagine were constructed during the Edwardian to the mid 20th century.
The mock tudor decoration add to their attractive appearance, nicely captured in your fine composition.
Keep safe,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz,
The limited freedom these days will undoubtedly let you discover beautiful places close to home.
Or in any case pay more attention to the beautiful things that you had previously noticed.
The residents here live beautiful and quiet with small green gardens in front of their home.
Colourful and good clear and sharp shot of the houses visible between the trees.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Mariusz,
I can see you found a way to "discover" your neighborhood and the beauty of this immediate surrounding.
One benefit of this odd situation.
Beautiful same style houses and lot's of green, a real pleasant to see it on picture.
Good evening,
Ike

Mariusz, that housing development consists in detached houses called pavillions in French. Their half timbered style makes them attractive. The atmosphere was sleepy that day due to the lock down. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note. Since january, i ve signaled in my intro that Te counters and Te maps stopped working. This technical problem lasts for almost 3 months! Te team abandoned the site, they don t reply to emails. It s really disadvantageous. Like everyone i m waiting eagerly for this repair. Regards

Hello Mariusz.
A magnificent photograph, with that line of beautiful houses, all in the same style, surrounded by a high hedge and of course the trees, this makes it more pleasant to be at home.
Reading your note I see that your confinement is not so strict, when you can go for a walk for a while.
Here in Spain it is very strict, justified departures are only to pharmacies, supermarkets or doctors.
There is a lot of vigilance in the streets of the State Police, Civil Guard, Local Police and the Army cooperating, if you come to buy they can ask you for the ticket or see the purchase that justifies that you go out one day a week more or less, because there were people who cheated and went out every day for two or three things.
The minimum fine is 600 Euros.
In a month I have only left the supermarket once a week, I take my car from the garage and park in the supermarket and I do the shopping with gloves and a mask. You do not know how hard it is to see beautiful sunny days and just being able to look out the window and at least we are already in the new house that is very comfortable.
Good image perspective, very pleasing to the eye.
Colorful, sharp and bright are captured effectively.
Very good composition, magnificent presentation.
Have a good weekend, my friend.
Warm regards and to be very careful.
Luis.

Hello Mariusz,
Those houses are spectacular. I love half-timbered houses! 👍🏻👍🏻 What I don't understand is why they close the parks, what is the difference between taking a walk on the sidewalk and walking in the park? Here, parks are open but facilities in the parks are closed.
Stay safe,
MT

mariusz
a beautiful row of twin houses imitating the traditional tudor style. --- nice you can deal with science and religion in your life, I guess these things aren't separated, science talks about the "God's work" even if they call that chance or nature. of course the work of God is huge and we are ignorant creatures, the ones who came before us tried to understand His work using his poor knowledge.
some rules about quarantine aren't really useful I guess, but we aren't sure.
take care
jorge
