London, maybe the city with the more contrasts !

Here a view from the Tower Bridge, towards the Tower of London , and, in the background, the Gherkin and Tower 42 (R to L), in the financial district.

There is almost 1000 years between them, as the ancient fortress was founded by Wylliam the Conqueror. There have been played so many rounds of the British History. Some kings and queens eventually were beheaded there. The youngest one was 17 years old, and was Queen for only a few days...

The Gherkin is the newest skyscraper in London. They said it's a pure jewel in the crown skyline of the city of London. But is it more beautiful than the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London ?! It is owned by Swiss Re.

There is around 24000 square meters of glass, so if you want reflexions, that's the place to go ! Unfortunately the weather was not that good for me...

(Actually the real name of the building is "The Erotic Gherkin", but nobody calls it like this... only the Gherkin, or some times the suppository).

I tought this shot might be a good entry for the hunt, under contrasting cultures.
