Photographer's Note
Dancing Cheek to Cheek -oh the romance of it! here's Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Girls, don't you just love Gingers' swan dress?
I couldn't resist posting another shot taken at the monthly tea dance held at London's Spittalfields market.Notice how the woman holds her partner in a stylised way. When partners are thin on the ground, all is not lost as my favourite dancer demonstrates by dancing with her scarf.

Hi Bev,
Nice one from your series in Tea Dance. She is a lovely lady and you have got her great with nice expressions on her face even though its straight but they are pure. The atmosphere is very good and energetic.
Have a nice time

Hello Bev,
Another of your fine pictures form the "Tea Dance". This time, the main lady in the picture must indeed have her head at the upper right intersection of "thirds" if I'm not mistaken. This, I believe, that has greatly contributed to the fine composition of this picture.
Good exposure and colours and contrasts.
Sorry, Bev, but I see your picture and I keep thinking of Rupert T. Firefly (Groucho Marx) in my favourite film of all time - Duck Soup (1933) - in which Rupert T. Firefly, President of Freedonia, says to Vera (to whom he has been introduced by Mrs. Teasdale),
"I could dance with you till the cows come home. On second thought, I'd rather dance with the cows when you came home."
Sorry about that, Bev. I just couldn't help it. If you want to see the whole clip it's here.
Seriously, although I am a Marx Brothers' fan and adore "Duck Soup", I do like your picture, Bev. I really wish I had the courage to get out there and take pictures in public and, perhaps, challenge those "dressed in a little brief authority" who want us to put our cameras away.
Best Wishes,
John.

Hello Bev,
It takes two to tango!
Actually it does look as though the small gent being partnered by the lovely lady has been "tangoed". She has full command of the situation.
As John says her face is bang on the third line.
Also the lower horizontal thirds line runs right through the elbow of the lady on the left then straight across the shoulders of the intrepid gent.
By the look of their body language this must have been a tango – I'd like to have seen a shot of some of the more exciting dance positions!
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hello Bev,
So much more sedate than your last post from this event!
Fine strength in the composition, whilst that lady, in the b/g, almost focussed, gives a good lead into the reat of shot, where the context is set.
Do people just come along to dance, or are they encouraged to participate in a little sociable entertainment, in between browsing the stalls?
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hi Bev,
A very good photo! This is the kind of picture which could inspire to a short story! I see the lady, who seems to be very distanced from her dance partner, both physically and mentally. Just look at the way she hold her left hand, as little contact as possible! And her gaze is somewhere else too, maybe she just caught sight of another man she would much rather dance with... And so on! I like the WS too, but I would appreciate a sharper copy, so I could read what music they are playing;)
Kind regards
Gunnar
PS John tyro´s comment (and link) is very funny!

Very nice capture and I love to dance but it's hard to go cheek-to-cheek when she is taller than him. Great pov and dof with nice colors. Well done, tfs.
