Photographer's Note
Igor Mitoraj’s magnificent 1987 bronze sculpture "Centurione I" sits in Columbus Yard at Canary Wharf in London, England. His works combine the surreal with the antiquity of Ancient Greece and Rome and his beautifully crafted sculptures are both thoughtful and monumental. I have to admit I am a great lover of his work and there are 3 to admire and enjoy at Canary Wharf.

Hello Brian,
This is a stunning piece of sculpture and you have captured it beautifully in this photograph. An interesting note too about Igor Mitoraj and his other works at Canary Wharf.
I noticed that you posted this picture at just 790 pixels wide, a very wise move and one which has paid off handsomely because the image appears not to have been "shrunk" and lost any of it wonderful detail and sharpness.
You have clearly spent some time getting exactly the right viewpoint on this sculpture to get the areas of light and shade just right and the background pleasingly out of focus. What really surprised me was that you took this on a focal length of 230mm - my first impression was that you were probably only standing a very few feet from this when you took it - but you obviously took it from some considerable distance.
A beautiful "portrait" with fabulous light and colours and exceptional technical quality too.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Brian,
the tight crop works very well for me, filling as it does the frame with all of those lovely tones and textures of the attractive bronze sculpture that you have captured expertly.
Very nicely done.
Regards Les.

Hello Brian,
This sculpture is indeed rather spectacular and you have captured it beautifully. The light is perfect to bring out the nuances of tone and the patina in the bronze.

Hello Brian,
The quality of this picture is superb. The tight framing and metallic green against the softer BG are visually very strong indeed. Your own unique interpretation uses the light so well and makes the sculpture jump from the page.
Excellent!
Kind Regards, Ann

Une photo de très grande qualité du Centurion de Mitoraj avec un rendu des textures splendide et une lumière extra. Il y a une statue de l'artiste à La Défense à Paris que j'ai pris plaisir à photographier.

Hi Brian
A wonderful bronze sculpture with effective tight framing and good sharpness and dof. It does indeed mirror ancient Greco Roman sculptures and is a fitting tribute. Nice warm cold colour contrasts between the reddish bronze colors and the green cyan verdigris. Tfs!

Dear Brian
What an amazing piece of art and how beautifully you've photographed it. The green metallic colours against the backdrop of neutral colours sets it off superbly. The sharpness is so good, it really does look three dimensional. My compliments, another corker.
Cheers

Hi Brian
I am sure that when the artist sees the capture you have made of his work, you will become his favorite photographer, as you have done such wonderful justice to his work here. The light is perfect, and depth of field superb and the subject, well that goes without saying.
For a cast metal half finished head, there is a lot of expression in this, and it is captured in a really cool way. The strong line of shadow on the neck is particularly well caught.
Thanks again for sharing something I knew nothing of. Canary Wharf beckons me :)
All the best
Noel

Ciao Brian
Complimenti
