Photographer's Note

This is the 2nd picture from Foxton Cannal Locks(the previous one being Going Nowhere), taken on News Day this view is looking down the locks from the 3rd set of gates and there are 10 sets of gates from top to bottom and not a pump of any sort all done by hidden water channels
and gravity built at the turn of the last centry (1900 ish). The man on the right is winding up a small gate to let the water out and so lower the boat down to the next level. I am told it takes over an hour to go from top to bottom, same to go back up. These where the motorways of the victorian period all heavy frieght went by cannal and it is said the city of Birmingham has more cannals than Venice just not quiet as scenic ;0( .
This another pic taken for the camera club comp this thurs night which is why not so many posts here on TE been busy with the framing etc.
