Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

Please click here and open the photograph in Beta. It is well worth the effort to see the bigger, clearer photograph.

For me, May signifies the blooming of the bluebell.

Quite near my home, there is an area of ancient woodland.

In England, an ancient woodland is a woodland that has existed continuously since 1600 or before. Before that date, planting of new woodland was uncommon, so a wood present in 1600 was likely to have developed naturally.

This woodland is home to the English bluebell and from the beginning of May, the floor of the woodland turns into a blue carpet. Bluebells like semi-shade so this area is perfect as a permanent habitat.

I wish I could have recorded other senses besides those of vision, for the area was alive with the calls of birds and scent of wild garlic.

Thank you for stopping by. I wish you a happy day, Bev :-)
