Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
A walk in the woods is always a treat, listening to the birds and searching for attractive areas of plants.
You will find, when the bluebells fade, the wild garlic takes over. In this dell, there were carpets of white!
Allium ursinum, known as wild garlic, has a huge number of different names, depending on your area of the country; cowleek, buckrams, broad-leaved garlic, wood garlic, bear leek, are just a few.
It is native to Europe and Asia, where it grows in moist woodland.
It is a wild relative of onion and garlic, all belonging to the same genus, Allium.
Our grandparents would have been out collecting such plants, as they did the wild berries and herbs.
Have a lovely week, Bev :-)

Hi Bev,nice step from the purple to the white, lovely carpet made by the flowers of wild garlic, a species not very common in my region, so your pic is a beautiful surprise for me, and the quality is always excellent!! Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano. P.S. Your leg is ok?

Hello Bev,
I had to make a net search to find out about this plant in Swedish. It seems to be quite popular in some cooking, especially for "fine dining", although I have never tried it. I guess I should. It is indicated it could also be used for medical purposes.
But above all it looks beautiful when covering a large area like here, even more so because it was not planted here to look nice. It just is.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Bev,
The scene is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the patch of wild garlic. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Bev,
Those flowers look great and half shady terrain gives good contrasty result. Very relaxing place on a sunny day.

Hello Beverley,
A lovely view from the woods with all those white flowers. The ones in the foreground are very nicely lit by the sunlight, which makes them stand out even better from the darker tones in the background. Well captured.

Hi Bev
I haven't come across wild garlic before but these plants are clearly in the Allium family.
If your grandparents collected them I assume that some or all of the plants can be eaten.
A good woodland photo.
cheers

Hi Bev,
It's certainly a carpet of white, but also with nice bright greens in the foreground and background. You captured nice details in the foreground but we also see the forest extending into the distance. A walk in the woods is always a good thing, especially when the sun shines.

Hello Bev,
Good use of a shallow dof with perfect fg sharpness. These wild garlic plants look a little like agapanthus, but are white flowered instead of purple. Excellent lighting and framing. Tfs!

Hi Bev,
Lovely photo and such an informative note. I suppose with everything going on in the world, some survival skills may be useful someday. I remember once when we were camping with my friends in the mountains we run out of food and we were walking through the forest trying to finds something to eat. That was an adventure ha ha
I have to memorize the view of this wild garlic plant. It could save my life someday.
Very well done,
M

Hi Bev.
A beautiful composition with the dominant green of this leafy forest, this carpet of white flowers is wonderful, I think I have not seen this plant before, but from what I read in your note, wild garlic seems to need more humid areas than those we have for here.
Very nice color, which together with good sharpness and optimal lighting, gives great quality to the image.
Well done. I like it a lot.
You have a good day.
Very best regards
Luis.
