Hello Everyone,

Today has felt extremely cold, with temperatures below freezing but, no complaints for the sun was out and the sky was blue.
I just loved how tree's shadow seemed to be imprinting itself on the old chimney.

That was really poignant for, this old mill was once used for screen printing.

Sadly, now all that remains of the mill is the chimney. The mill which was once part of the life blood of the village has now virtually disappeared.

How times change!

I will add a second photograph, just focussing on the chimney.

Hello Bev,
You describe the weather today like very similar to what we have had in Stockholm. But you still have a brighter light. Our days are getting very short with good light for just a few hours. The brightness created fantastic shadows of the trees on the rather elegant chimney. What a pity it has no function today, other than looking good on photos. Different kinds of trees frame the view well.

A great photo of this old chimney in a bright sunlight. I really like both the textures of the old stones and the pattern of shadows of the tree. The darker tree in the right hand side add a good contrast as well.

Hello Bev,

Also in Belgium (Flanders) a blue sky +7°Celsius, a fresh east wind, previous night, -1° Celsius at the ground.

The shadow of the branch on the tower make impression, also nice impression.

Hello Beverley, the shadow of the tree looks as if it is painted on the chimney, it is so dark and clear. The chimney with its height was the perfect ‘ canvas’ .
All nicely framed by the trees.
I like the title.

Hello Beverley,
We also had a very clear day today, but a bit warmer. In the afternoon the temperature was 7°C. You could feel a cold wind in open terrain but not in the forest of the park.
An advantage of sunny autumn and winter days is that you can more easily see clear and sharp shadows from trees or bare branches.
Like in your two photos here.
You rightly chose the vertical format that was most suitable, especially for your main photo with the tree next to the chimney.

Often when it is cold the sky is blue. I appreciate the shadows on the chimney. The point of view is showing the details of the chimney and of the house in the background. Have a nice day.

Hello Bev,
It's incredible how the old chimney is still standing even though there are some cracks , looking extremely fragile ... one tiny tremor will bring the whole chimney tumbling down. I would reckon.
But the chimney has found 'help' , seemingly ... the tree's shadow is supporting and gripping it tightly like the Force of Nature , again seen in the WS.
This is really good picture ... a sense of 'towering' with each other , the tress and chimney.

Perfect shadow cast upon the chimbey on the main photo, Beverley.
As for the ruins of the ancient chimney, it appears stand in tact even as the base looks dilapidated, maybe dangerous.
Nonetheless, found a good POV for this subject.

these two samples are marvelous and we can see as beautiful is the graphic aspect of the shadows in the old chimney, it looks like a toscani tower. TFS.
here another dry and hot day of spring, rains are avoiding us again.

An extraordinary photo of this fireplace, when I saw it before opening it I thought it could be a tower, this very close-up gives us the feeling of a great height, I like the shadows of the tree in it, also the bare branches give a nice graphic in the blue sky.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
