Photographer's Note

This is of course neither the Eiffel Tower in Paris nor the one in Las Vegas but the Blackpool Tower in North West England.
Blackpool itself is a very particular English seaside resort. It is clearly very well prepared for the bad weather. In addition to the promenade along the beach, theme park or nearby ZOO there are plenty of indoor activities like Sea Life Aquarium, Madame Tusseaud, Circus, Theatre with Musicals, Casinos etc.
I didn’t actually need any of it to motivate my trip there: since I have seen a picture of this town with its characteristic tower I knew I want to see it myself.
Manchester area is actually infamous for the bad weather but in last couple of days there has been some weather anomaly with Scotland, Manchester and Wales having a great weather and North East England quite a cold one. On the day I went to Blackpool we had 14 degrees Celsius in the North East and 24 degrees just 2 hours (driving) away. This has been an extra stimulus for me to visit this extraordinary town. Not mentioning that with this photo I am finally able to paint the Lancashire County on my TrekEarth map of photographed UK counties, thus having most of the North England already visited.

Bev has recently showed some creative photos of this place, so here is a more typical postcard-like view.
