Photographer's Note
I have been loving the night sky recently, especially the Milky Way!
Here on the Isle of Wight in the UK we have quite low levels of light pollution which reeeaaallly helps when taking this type of shot!
The light in the distance to the right is St Catherine's Lighthouse beaming out to sea.
I used a Tokina 11-16mm at f2.8 for 25 seconds to get this pic.
Post processing invloved a bit of dodging and burning and some increased contrast.

Jamie
Magnifique photo avec un rendu spectaculaire de la voie lactée au dessus du paysage. As-tu superposé plusieurs photos ou le résultat a-t-il été obtenu avec une seule après un travail de PP?

Hi Jamie
awesome shot this, surprised you did not call this "the road to the stars". Pure magic and a real stunner of an image. Love it! Amazing imagery! As usual!

Hello Jamie,
This is a very original and skillfully realized photo. Not sure I understand how you made it (short flash on the road?) but the result is sure fantastic. "The road to the Universe"! Great post.

Hello Jamie,
This is quite an amazing shot.
Your extra slow shutter speed has transformed the night sky into a glowing heaven of light, splattered by a myriad of stars.
I can't help feeling that the glow in the b/g is created by some film-like, mighty explosion!
You have composed the shot really well, converging lines ensure that we follow your design.
Were you able to get any shots of the Northern Lights? We are too far west to pick them up.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Jamie,
your choice of exposure settings combined with some excellent PP work has resulted in a fine night shot.
I guess that the road was not busy on this occasion and has been well used to give the image a fine perspective.
The colours are just amazing, well done indeed.
Regards Les.

hi Jamie,
Incredible shot, we never stop to think what is above us, and this scene shows us perfectly well what is there. I am stunned at the beauty and light and color of this, while the road leads into the scene so perfectly. (It reminds me of the road in the ad got Gerry Bruckheimer movies). Beautiful work, thanks for sharing this.
Best wishes

Hi Jamie
I just love the way the shape of the Milky Way mirrors the one of the road.
Lucky you - I couldn't dream of the sky like this here in London.
Best wishes

Hello Jamie
Just as well no cars came along! I really wonder how much dodging and burning you had to do here. My guess is that amazing sky got most of your attention. Living in Gosport doesn't lend itself to shots like this, but when I get away...

Will
