Photographer's Note

Back in November 2007 there was a spell of calm, foggy, frosty weather. This inspired me to get some foggy early morning shots, and living on an island that is very hilly, this wasn't hard to do at all!
Ashey (where the photo is) is a very flat area that commonly gets thick fog during still, calm, mornings and to get a photo of the valley i needed to be up on Ashey down.
On this occasion i was looking north/northeast toward the town of Ryde of which you an just make out the church steeple, and then beyond to the Solent and finally Portsmouth.

Interestingly, up on the hill where i took this from wasn't cold at all, infact was pleasantly warm in the sunshine, although down in the valley the temperature was recorded at -5c!
Some other shots from this morning can be found a couple of pages back (ice web and smallbrook sunrise)

NOTE: I have just noticed the horizon isn't quite straight, it tilts ever so slightly to the left Grrr!!!!!!!!
