Photographer's Note
Hello everyone,we were in Saffron Walden this weekend, attending a family wedding.
This town was completely new to us, and what a delight.
We had time in the morning for a leisurely stroll around to take in some of the sights.
The town has a long history; there was a small settlement here even in the time of the Romans.
But in the 1230s the Earls of Essex, set out an ambitious new town plan with a grid system of streets, a new market place and a new church;these elements can still be seen today.
I liked the look of this building on the corner, standing at such a strange angle.
I have rotated the shot a little. The problem with these ancient buildings is that lots of the guide lines aren't quite as straight as one would like, but there again that is part of their charm!
Thanks for looking.

Hi Jean,
I love the angle in which you have captured this. The empty roads look very interesting. Nice quality too.
Well done!

I think it must belong to the "Crooked Man" (probably a non-PC rhyme these days) I love how the walls seem to bow out at the top. The lamp fixed to the corner is a good feature of the image too. You used the perspective of the road well to take the eye right through the scene. Good luck to have the street to yourself.

Hi Jean.
I have heard of this town but not seen any photos before.
The shot is a delight, taken from an ideal viewpoint to create excellent perspective - I'm glad you didn't cut off that corner in the kerb.
You had a lovely light for this shot. It's so clear and brings out the colours and detail in the sky very nicely. Perhaps if someone had been walking down the street on the far side, having just rounded the bend in the road on the right side of the picture, it would be even more perfect, but that's just my preference! It looks great as it is. I love the way the down-pipe on the side of the corner shop highlights the strange angles!
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Jean,
a most intriguing perspective of this lovely little town bathing in wonderful light!
Yes, I agree, a big chunk of the charm is due to those natural tilts in the buildings. I live in Amsterdam, so... I know everything about it, he, he! Everything is tilted over here, starting with our politicians.
Great job, love it!
Have a great weekend, I'll be seeing you.
Fulvio.

very interesting view, the typical houses are nice to see. I liked this pov, it is very good. The light is soft and afficient. I would like to see a version in B&W cause I think colors aren't important here
hugs
