Photographer's Note
a 75 km/h gale
On our way to the UK for some vintage hi-fi shopping, aboard the high speed ferry Stena Discovery from the Hoek van Holland – Harwich service. This ferry crosses the North Sea with a cruising speed of 75 m/h. Wanting to know how this speed feels outside, for inside there is not much of a speed sensation. The tiny aft deck was the place to go and the force and the sound of the wind was impressing together with the darkish sky.
On the deck there were also two twin bros having a big time playing with the wind. Again the fast F10 came in handy to capture the lively scene without much ado.
Some facts about the Discovery
The world's largest high-speed ferry - which crosses the North Sea in three hours and 40 minutes. Dimensions: 126,60 x 40,00 X 5,8 m meter, Power plant: 2 General Electric Gas turbines, delivering 78.000 kW. Capacity: 1500 passengers, 375 cars (or 50 lorries and 100 cars). Built in Finland in 1997.
PCS tech: slightly cropped, adjusted the levels, contrast saturation and curves differentially, ran thru Noiseware, USM-ed , added a frame added and saved for the web.

I really like the way their clothing specially the pants legs show so very well the wind force. The red brings a bolt of colr to the drab colors of the floor and the sky. the tiny reflection of of the rails on the little water on the corner is pretty cool.
nicely windswept

Goedenmorgen Bert,
Lovely daily life picture Bert, excellent of colours.
John.

Yo Bert, beautiful sky! I like the lines very much, Bert, there's a lot of tension in the picture because of that, and the boy with the arms spread, is great. Well standing in a storm like that, feels good, as long as you are not on the bike.
I guess he did wise to keep his cap in his hands.
Enjoy your day, Rinie

This brilliant red is the star here Bert, and I like the shiny floor and the moody sky. It's fun to see the boy testing himself against the wind, while his brother hangs on for dear life. I'd be very glad of the high railing I think:)

The F10 is a jewel (I own one), Bert, and you have gotten absoluitely the best out of it. The colors are admirably clear and sharp, and you have achieved your aim of sharing this sensation of a gale force wind above deck.
Superb!

Fun and effectful presentation of this utdoor wind testing. The strong red sure underlines the little 'drama' setting. Good capture Bert

Interesting catch of the boys standing against the wind, Bert. You actually came up with a decent framing in a technical environment that initially seems to defy the possibility of taking good photos. The vivid red jackets are nice, and their patterned sports trousers work fine to help illustrate the strength of the wind.

Hej Bert,
