The Lower Promenade, a photo from East Sussex, England

Photographer's Note

The museum section of the busy lower promenade walk in the City of Brighton, East Sussex, England. Running the length of the seafront road, the arches on the lower promenade were constructed when the road was widened in the 1880’s. Over recent years, the area has been refurbished and made into a big attraction for the City's tourists and sightseers. There are shops, museums, galleries, artists’ studios, fashionable bars, restaurants and even gyms and nightclubs. For locals there is a sand volleyball court, basketball court and several children's play areas and paddling pools.

Hello Brian,
The point of view is perfectly chosen. I am not a fan of overly saturated tones, but here they work very well indeed, producing some superb colour contrasts. I also like the textures to be observed in the boats and walls. Excellent weather for Guy Fawkes' Night by the looks of it:-)

now those are some pretty bold and vivid colors, quite striking.for some reason, orange doesn't show itself in many photos, but it certainly does here.
love the arhces, the textured wood, the brick, and the contrasting blue sky.

The strong red colours of the boats and of the brick wall are perfect against the clear blue sky. I was here once, some 50 years ago, I don´t really remember these boats...

First thing about this image that grabs viewer's attention are the contrasting saturated colours but what I like even more is the clever composition. The wide-angle lens really emphasized the boats in the foreground. Also, great idea to include the creeping frosty shadow in the bottom left which contrasts nicely with brilliant sunshine in the larger part of the image.

questa foto è di grande effetto per la ricchezza e la saturazione dei colori che si contrappongono in maniera decisa.
La luce che illumina sia il muro che le barche è ricca di tonalità calde ed una saturazione accentuata ne ha esaltato ulteriormente i toni.
Ottima la composizione che si avvale della curva della costruzione in muratura.
A questo si aggiunge l'ottima nitidezza che permette di gustare ogni più minuto particolare.
