Photographer's Note
In the Northern Dales, Moles are often called "Mowlies" and viewed as a pest rather than the endearing "Gentleman in Black" image we may have. They are hunted as a pest and it has long been the rather strange custom to string them up to deter the arrival of other moles. I'm not sure whether it works but it does generate a pungent odour of decay which might put you off from moving into the neighbourhood!
This was just one of four strings of moles bordering a single field in Teesdale. You may note not a single molehill to be seen in the field behind!
Converted to Black and White and some darkening of the sky done in PP.

Hello Martin! Very impressive photo, like a beautiful old postcard! Great POV and perspective, great light management, great choice of b&w and effect toning!
Beautiful place, great landscape photo, with an impressive "touch" of FG of silhouettes!
Best regards
Georgios

Hello Martin
Great documentary-style picture & good idea to convert to bl/w to "soften" the image. On the other hand, I think the bl/w contrast might have been pushed up a bit to create an even greater impact. Love the position of the barbed wire & the ominous sky beyond it.
