Photographer's Note

This is a Punch and Judy theatre on the beach at Weymouth in Dorset.
Punch originated from a 16th century Italian puppet called Pulcinella. Mr Punch has been performing in the UK for over 350 years. Originally a marionette but now a glove puppet. To begin with an adult show but now more commonly for children, and often found on beaches.
Other characters appearing with Mr Punch are his wife Judy, the baby, Toby the dog, a crocodile and a string of sausages.
Mr Punch sorts out problems by hitting out with his stick and his comment "That's the way to do it."
