Photographer's Note

The Great Spotted Woodpecker.

The most widespread of the British woodpeckers.
We saw this acrobat of a bird close to where we saw the Jay from my last shot.
It was having a good feed on the fatballs in the wire holder.

Smaller than the Green Woodpecker but larger than the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker.
It has red under its tail and a red nape patch.
A woodland bird, living in both coniferous and deciduous forests.
Measuring approximately 9 inches (23 cm) in length.

Two more views in the workshop.

Thanks for looking.
