Photographer's Note

A piece of sculpture titled 'Soundwave'.
Sculpted from Portland stone, it measures 50cm. diameter.
The artist is Gavin Roweth.

"I mainly use Portland stone due to its superb light reflective properties. Carving directly into the stone, I create abstract forms designed to make the most of the intrinsic nature of the material.

Many of my sculptures are designed to work with the sun, creating highlights and shadows across the stone and surrounding area.
The marks and fossils embedded in the stone often become essential parts of the finished piece."
(Delamore Arts catalogue.)

Positioned in the grounds of Delamore House.

I was amazed at the quality of the sculpting, the stone was incredibly smooth, so it did just as the artist intended, reflecting the light.

Thanks for looking.
One more view in the workshop.
