Photographer's Note

This is a view of the Eastern Lake District as the winter sun sets, taken from the top of Helvellyn.

On the right you can see snow-covered peaks and below on the left reflections in the river and two small tarns on the hillside. As the clouds drifted by beams of light cut through the mist. A truly magnificent vista, I only wish my photo was as good!

The English Lake District, for me, is one of the most photogenic places on earth.

During the winter the light is constantly changing and is a photographers paradise. At least when it isn't raining!
