Photographer's Note

I have more photos of waterfalls to show, but now for a change another view from Western Lake District. It was taken from the road along the northern shore of Wast Water. The tree trunks inspired me to come up with the title. “Behind bars” may be equivalent to “in prison”. Indeed, this year most of us have experienced some limits to our freedom of movement. Let’s hope everything gets back normal soon. I can accept whatever is necessary to save lives but as a scientist, who is trained to question the status-quo, I cannot happily accept some irrational rules. For example, in the UK, schools will remain closed until September, but pubs will re-open next week. On the list of places which pose the highest risk schools are indeed relatively high, but pubs are on the very top. This choice clearly shows the priorities of the society. It also shows that people who make decisions are usually very distant from problems of an average person.
