Photographer's Note
A view from the top of where?
I am standing on the roof terrace of the castle on St Michael's Mount.
St Michael's Mount is a tidal island in Mount's Bay.
The island is linked to the town of Marazion by a man-made causeway of granite setts, passable between mid-tide and low water.
It is manage by the National Trust. The castle and chapel have been the home of the St Aubyn family since approximately 1650.
If the causeway is covered by the sea, there is a boat which will take you to and from the island for a small fee.
Taken with an iPhone.
Thanks for looking.

Hello Jean,
I must have similar views somewhere in my archives from my visit more than ten years ago, although I only saw it at high tide and had to reach the island by boat. The causeway could still be seen through the water though. Great photo of the mainland, the piers and the boats lying in the sand.

Lots to see in this view. Great lines and shapes. I remember many years ago visiting the mount and having to race the tide as it covered the causeway, getting very wet feet. Well done.

Hello Jean,
Again a very interesting and informative note and a beautiful photograph to accompany it.
It never ceases to amaze me just what fabulous photographs you seem to be able to produce from a mobile phone! The details and sharpness are remarkable but also the composition is a delight too with the harbour making a perfect foreground feature while the coastline and causeway lead the eye neatly off into the distance.
Lovely natural colours and an absolutely gorgeous sky.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

HI Jean
A good photo looking back towards the mainland. I was there at high tide on a rough day so it was a bit wet getting there and back.
cheers

hello jean, You have found an elevated point with a wonderful view of the bay below. it seems a low tide there, with the wide wet beaches.

Hello Jean,
The walls surrounding the dry harbour and the temporarily dry road are nice features that give the view some structure. Seeing the larger version I'm amazed to find so many persons down there. It's a very sharp photo with fine clarity and a nice view.

Gert

Hello Jean,
Mobile phones are such useful pieces of equipment for you usually have them with you all the time, and when you haven't really been considering an outing as a photographic experience, you can easily record something that you see unexpectedly!
I'm not suggesting that this as unexpected, but just an observation!
The view of St. Michael's is almost always in the opposite direction, looking towards the mount, so this is an interesting change.
I have never seen the sheltered harbour, like this before. It is neatly protected from the sea.
The causeway is clearly defined, a curved pathway, linking together the mount and the mainland, or in photographic terms, the f/g to the b/g.
A most interesting shot.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Jean,
At low tide we can see people crossing the causeway from the mainland to the island, and back. Good scale offered as we can appreciate the high dominating point where the castle was built.
Fine clear shot with a cell-phone, beautiful details all the way across.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hi Jean
A picturesque spot taken from a scenic viewpoint with the foreground and distant land connected by the causeway at low tide. Nice sky and extra interest with some of things that take us there in the first place! Very well captured at a time of day with the light even and cool. Excellent capture
Best regards

jean
a curious structure embracing the place where the small boats are, I saw this many times, but never with a place with sand in the lower tide. nice general view.

Hello Jean,
It's amazing how wide the beach is at low tide.
Surprising to me is also that the boats can leave their anchorage only at high tide.
From your high viewpoint we can also admire the whole wide area, very green and very quiet.
Best regards, Paul

Jean, the castle offers a splendid panorama of the bay. The town can be seen in the bg. The water level was low, the boats can't navigate at this time. The port is protected from the storms by a thick sea wall. A nice landscape photo. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
