Polruan Harbour, a photo from Cornwall, England

Photographer's Note

Polruan is a small village on the estuary of the river Fowey in Cornwall. It faces the larger and more commercialised town of Fowey on the opposite bank and ferries sail between the two all day. The river is popular for boating as you can see from the image and there are some interesting coastal walks with stunning scenery (we were walking inland from Fowey and crossed the river where it narrows, before the long walk around the coast back to Polruan).

Hello Joy,
for some time now I have been promising myself to visit this lovely area of Cornwall,you have shown just what I have been missing. I like the POV that shows the boats lining the river as it winds its way to the sea,there is excellent detail in a strong composition,a fine photo.

This is a wonderful wide panormaic shot with just so many wonderful details and things to look at and examine closely.

Despite the fact that it looks as though the weather wasn't doing you any great favours, you have managed this photogarph extremely well with gorgeous reflections of the bright sky on the water, excellent diagonal composition and fabulous details and sharpness - I can pick out every single building in the distance. Perfect exposure and lovely subdued colours too. Those boats look as though they are sitting in a huge pool of quicksilver!

Joy, thanks for this really lovely wide shot of Poluran. The way you've framed this is quite effective - it almost makes the moored boats look like a fleet approaching the city. The light suggests either a very early or a very late time of day, with the faded shadows along the banks. Good crisp shot, and informative note.

Cornwall is a very nice area with a lot nice weather.
We get a wonderful view about these marina and city in background.
Nice perspective and depth picture.
Amazing colors and good presentation.
