Photographer's Note

Hello Everyone,

This is the house of Oliver Cromwell in Ely.

It is a timber-framed two storey house, part of which dates back to the 13th century and was once the home of Oliver Cromwell. The house interiors have been presented as they might have been during the time in which Oliver lived at the house with replica furniture and décor of the period.

The kitchen shows examples of things they might have eaten. There is also a video presentation about Oliver Cromwell and his family. (See my workshop)

Oliver Cromwell was an English general and statesman who, first as a subordinate and later as Commander-in-Chief, led armies of the Parliament of England against King Charles I, during the English Civil War. He subsequently ruled the British Isles as Lord Protector.

There is an exhibition about the Civil war in the house.

The house is well worth a visit, using an audio guide, Bev :-)
