Photographer's Note

Willen Lakeside Park - was excavated in 1972 – 1974 from farmland on either side of River Ouzel that flows from Dunstable Downs. It was created to store excess rainwater and prevent flooding to areas downstream. A control mechanism was built in 1976 on the eastern shore. The lake is divided into two parts with the South Lake busy with water sports centers while the North Lake is a nature reserve for wetland birds and surrounding it The Peace Pagoda, a Buddhist Temple, a 17th Century Church and the old Willen Village.
