GOING UP IN BRISTOL, a photo from Bristol, England

Photographer's Note

I was trying to find the famous bridge of Bristol, but I failed in this first attempt. While going up this street, it was raining and I was taking photos, driving my umbrella and walking more slowly when a guy came walking down in high speed and said me many bad names because I was a stupid tourist blocking his way or worst things (I couldn't understand well), anyway I greeted him with many special bad words in Portuguese too, I guess it was a moment of cultural exchange. haha. This was one of the rare moments I found rude people in UK.
Up there you can see the tower at side a museum I couldn't to visit. I took the wrong way and finished in the edge of the canal, no bridge found...

Eu estava tentando encontrar a famosa ponte de Bristol, e estava subindo essa ladeira, debaixo de chuva, manejando minha sombrinha, tirando fotos e seguindo devagar. Foi quando apareceu um sujeito que descia depressa pela calçada e me xingou por eu ser um turista idiota bloqueando seu caminho, e eu lhe disse belos palavrões em português, era um daqueles momentos de intercâmbio cultural. haha. Na verdade ele foi uma das raras pessoas rudes que encontrei no Reino Unido.
No final tomei um caminho errado, fui ter ao canal, mas não vi ponte alguma.
Ao fundo podem ver uma torre localizada ao lado de um museu, que não tive tempo de visitar.

I don't suppose the bad weather helped tempers on either side, but there is really no need for rudeness. Nevertheless, you have made a good capture in this busy street despite the rain. The almost identical upper façades make an excellent lead-line towards the church tower. Fine rendering of the colours and good clarity thanks to the expert light management.

At least he didn't rob or beat you... :-(
The weather was truly bad, but it's still a nice photo. What we see, and how you composed it, is more important than a certain lack of contrasts and brightness. It's a nice street with a beautiful tower at the end.

Lol at the cultural exchange of bad words! Sounds like he deserved it. You would think that a larger city like London would be more hostile and with colder, more impolite people, but I did not find that at all. Remind me to either avoid Bristol or spend as little time there as possible. I never got to hear any bad words in Portugal as the people there were great and gave me plenty of patience and breathing space.

Bonjour Jorge,

Malheureusement pour toi, tu as eu un temps typiquement anglais pour visiter l'Angleterre. Par contre tu as réussi à faire de la très belle photo malgré le temps gris.

Hello Jorge,
A good capture of this street, which adds a nice bit of daily life. The houses built along the sloping street and especially their windows make a very nice pattern, which leads so nicely up to the tower in the background. A cleverly composed shot, well done.
