Photographer's Note

Vylkove is often referred to as the "Ukrainian Venice" because most of its streets are river canals and boats are the most popular form of transport.

Vylkove doesn't look like Venice at all. In spite of the fact that it has been enjoying the status of "town" since the 18th century it in fact looks like a village. The smaller canals are all covered with duckweed and in summer they are teeming with life - waterfowl, insects and frogs.

I can't remember which canal exactly I took this photo in. It may have been Pushkin's Street...
