Maidan Nezalezhnosti

The Nesaleschnosti Majdan (Independence Square) is the central square of the Ukrainian capital Kiev. The place is separated by the Chreschtschatyk road in a northern and a southern part. Both parts are linked by the underground shopping center "Globus" and metro station. The place is generally called simply "Majdan" in 2004 and was world famous by the Orange Revolution, when the Maidan was the center of political protest against the election fraud in the Ukrainian presidential elections.
