EU flag in Ukraine, a photo from Lvivska, West

Photographer's Note

When I was selecting a photo of the Lviv Opera House for TrekEarth, I had a choice between a closer view of the magnificent façade:

and a more distant view (in this photo) which however allowed to see the interesting dome above the opera, the dome which is hidden behind when you are too close to the entrance. Now revisiting my photos from Ukraine, I thought, why not to have both in my gallery? Under my previous photo I have bragged about the fact that I managed to see an opera performance there on an actual opening night, the only night I spent in Lviv.
Under this photo I wanted to draw your attention to the flags hanging above the entrance to the Opera House. Everybody in the world can recognize the flag of Ukraine these days of course, but what a surprise, there is the EU flag next to it. I am not sure whether its presence expressed the dream of Ukraine of becoming the part of EU family or simple the funds from EU may have been somehow used to renovate the theatre.
I understand that EU as an organization is imperfect and requires deep reforms. It was probably one of the reasons that UK decided to leave. I find it very unfortunate; I think it is a lose-lose situation for both sides. Strong Europe can make a huge difference to the world. But I agree, a discussion is necessary about how the EU should look like, and it has certainly a lot of improvement areas which need to be discussed yet.

Hello Mariusz, pre-pandemic, as we see so many people enjoying the summer.
We have become familiar with the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag, and here my eyes were immediately drawn to the bright colours.
The Opera House is a beautiful building, and I like how it is framed between the trees.

Ciao Mariusz,it is really curious, and particularly relevant, to see the flag of the European Union in Lviv alongside the Ukrainian one. A reminder that is still a hope for this state to enter the union, but of course the particular moment has postponed the question, especially now when Europe is avoiding any decision that would lead to a further confrontation with Russia. Unfortunately Ukraine hasn't gained membership of either the EU or NATO, much the pity. A good photo of an impressive Opera House.

Sup[erbly placed the people in front of the facade and dome between the trees on each side. Colors of the leaves brightly added vivid scale to the outcome.

in fact it is a marvelous building and I would like to explore each adornment of it. curious the flag here, maybe a hidden desire to be part of the group. yes, each group have difficulties to be united, but I guess UK failed to be out of the group. here in south america our union with our neighbors is menaced because political differences and bolsonaro was born to divide, not to unite.

What a wonderful image, both for the magnificent beauty of the theater façade, and for all those people enjoying a good summer afternoon, it gives a great vital touch. What a sad contrast to the terrible images we are seeing on TV. I trust that this city will be saved from so much destruction.
Great color that brings out the details of the image, the sharpness is excellent and the lighting is splendid.
