Photographer's Note

This quadriga-like monument is in the Top-100 list of the Ukraine’s most important tourist sights. It is situated near Kakhovka city, at the place where during the Civil War (1917 – 1923) was a bridge-head of a crossing over the Dnieper River. The monument was opened in 1967, when the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution was celebrated. It was called “Legendary tachanka”, as it depicted a horse-drawn machine gun platform known as tachanka, a very mobile and effective weapon at that time.

The loving couple sitting under the horses can be a scale for estimating the monument sizes.

For comparison see Russian version of the Tachanka monument.
