Photographer's Note

At the very beginning of my quadruple non-stop tour (1 - from Kharkiv to Caucasus, 2 - over Caucasus, 3 - over Odeska province, and 4 – from Odesa to Kharkiv, 3900 km in all) by bike, this colorful Svyato-Dmitrievska Church raised my spirit after getting a puncture 1 km before this urban-type settlement named Vasishchevo after the surname Vasishchev from Russian name Vasiliy or Ukrainian Vasil.

The church, situated in Oreshkov’s Street, 41, was founded around 1880. In 1930 it was closed. In 1960s it was opened and renovated. Recently it was renovated again, but the belfry, which was destroyed during WW II, is not restored yet.
