Photographer's Note

Junker JU52 is a three-engined plane whose first flight took place in 1932. He was from the very start in civil operation with Lufthansa. The German Air Force in asset also of many specimen until the end of the war in 1944.

Three engines BMW 132T have 9 star cylinders. They develop a power of 830 horses each one.

The specimen on the photograph, the HB-HOP was manufactured in 1939. It is one of the 3 specimens still flying to Switzerland, but it is the only one which is still equipped with the engines of origin.

On the photograph, it is set up on the runway of the military airfield of Payerne for a take-off.
