Cosy Winter's Night, a photo from Valais, West

Photographer's Note

The snow was fresh and deep, and the landscape silent in the cold evening air. This is a view taken from the hotel balcony after a day skiing. Disappointingly, we did not get a hotel room with a view of the Matterhorn, but the view across the village proved to be more interesting at this time of evening when the cloud hovered low over the houses. The light on the left is not a star but a building on the side of the mountain.

After taking these photos from the balcony we headed for a delicious and warming fondue in a cosy restaurant.

Hi Susanna,
Nice winter scene with good illumination. I like that the background is slightly faded...it makes this scene seem even more real, as if it is snowing. Good frame choice and perspective.

Bonsoir Susanna,
Belle ambiance avec ces lumières chaudes qui animent la montagne. Le temps brumeux accentue l'effet cocon. C'est tout a fait le genre de vue qui fait rever d'une fondue au coin du feu!

Hello Susanna,

A great mood with a kind of Christmas feeling inside. Seems you had a nice stay in Zermatt, at least the surrounding is wonderful. The tree on the left looks nice in the composition, brings some light and extra colour inside...very nice.

Hello Susanna,

J'aime bien ce genre de vue nocturne et surtout la couleur que l'éclairage urbain donne à la neige et au maison. Cela permet de créer des images aux excellentes ambiances.

Quelle superbe ambiance Susanna,
on aimerait tous passer ses fêtes de fin d'année dans une vraie atmosphère hivernale avec toute la neige et ces magnifiques lumières, magiques presque enchantées.
Une photo pas facile vu les conditions mais très réussie.

Ca fait envie ca comme vue, surtout un lundi matin...
Je vois que tu as eu de la neige fraiche pour skier, celle qui reste sur les branches des arbres nous fait passer la magie de l'hiver a la montagne.

Une prise qui dégage une chaude ambiance, à rester bien tranquille au chaud et à regarder par la fenêtre. Le temps brumeux, dans la nuit avec ses lumières , le tout bien gérer. Belle compostion et beau travail.

Hi Susanna. It looks very comfortable and inviting, a fine night shot from the skiing area. To take a photo, this is a quite good view from the balcony indeed - well exposed and conveying the pleasant atmosphere of a winter night with a good luminosity.
