Photographer's Note

Harriet C. Dufresne is the heroine in Donna Tartt's second novel, "The Little Friend". The girl on her bike reminds me of Harriet although she is much younger than the character in the book. Harriet is in the literary tradition of fierce, impossible, tomboyish girl children: bossy to her peers, frank to adults and possessed of an uncompromising dignity that frequently brings her grief. Although the book is not as gripping as Tartt’s first novel (The Secret History), I find the characters well-developed and the plot quite exciting.

Harriet C. Dufresne, Dona Tartt’in ikinci romaninin (The Little Friend) bas kahramani. Bisikletli kiz Harriet’ten daha kucuk olmasina ragmen bana onu hatirlatti. Harriet zeki, dikbasli, oldukca kati prensipleri olan, acik sozlu, uzlasmaktan pek hazetmeyen, son derece durust bir cocuk. Tartt’in ilk kitabi (The Secret History) kadar surukleyici olmasa da ben bu romandaki karakterleri ve hikayeyi cok sevdim.
