View from Lauterbrunnen - Grütschalp aerial cable car high above the Lauterbrunnen valley. Jungfrau mountain (4158 m) in the background. Cable car ride is fairly new here. Between 1891 and 2006 there was a funicular on this same location. Due to unstable terrain it was very hard to maintain, and was replaced with the cable car.
From Grütschalp the journey usually continues to carless resort village Mürren by a narrow gauge train.

A famous but allways attractive view of the deep valley of Lauterbrunnen , with the majestuous Junfrau dominating the scene .

Hello Kari, Magnificent view of this valley from the cable car. The rocks here are so high and steep. Charming small houses. Fantastic composition. I would love to go by this cable car, specially in good sunny weather.

Hello Kari,

my neighbour today. Thanks for a peek into the past: my first girlfriend used to visit Lauterbrunnen annually with her parents, and this became my first contact with the Alps and Switzerland, respectively...
Long ago, and the local traffic situation seems to have changed, as you tell us.

this region of Switzerland is really amazing and tourists can explore much interesting locations very often with trains or busses. Very fine landscape view from Lauterbrunnen which remembers me our last visit a few years ago.Very well done.TFS.

another fantastic view.
I have a question for you...when you're here in Switzerland, do you rent a car and drive around to these mountain towns, or is it done by train? in your travel time here, what was the most common mode of transportation, car or train? just curious bc I'd like to go here as well.

the tall steep cliffs on the right are awesome, and the town in the Valley is equally interesting as it sits quietly protected. great post
