Photographer's Note
This is a view of the Eiger, taken from a meadow a little way below the Grosse Scheidegg. I had gotten used to seeing the Eiger from Grindelwald or the Kleine Scheidegg, from where it presents its awesome North Face and gives an air of solidity and might that plays up to its fearsome reputation. I was surprised to see that in reality it's just a knife edge of rock, fragile and delicate.

Good strong colours and good exposure. Only the darkest of the shadow areas is lacking any detail. I like all the detail of the flowers and plants in the meadow, but the mountain doesn't look very imposing from this viewpoint. Maybe using the 70mm end of the zoom or being closer to the trees would have given the mountain more impact.

Hello,
very nice foreground and sky. But I agree with Keitht that the Eiger looks too small, not imposing at all. Though maybe, if you change the title... as photo of a mountain meadow it is really good. Best regards Kristof

Hi Phillip. This picture is lovely, I really enjoy the brightness of the meadow in contrast to the trees behind. The mountain in the background fits perfectly into the shot. Thank you for your citriques on my photo as well, they were very useful! keep up the good work!

There are 360° to anything you see. And each of this degree, presents the scene in a different and unique way from its neighbouring values. Next it is how you present it at its best at that particular moment in time, of where you are. This presentation says a lot about the total visual value of your subject. And what makes you a better, if not, different from those camera totting tourists rushing for collections and albums. Instead of making an art, of what he is seeing.

Nice picture, Phil! Usually the panoramic view fits better to this kind of situations, but when shooting vertical you enhance the field on foreground and the mountain detail on background, giving a higher perspective to it. Well done work. Vertical pictures are not for all situations, but your choice is very nice.

Zeca

The hills are aliiiiive!!!
With the sound of *cough cough* sorry...
all we need is julie andrews and some kids in lederhosen to finish the scene.
i like how the vertical view concentrates the scene on the foreground. seems to be a lot of nice triangular shapes too, mountain, trees, white flowers. it looks to me like the mountain is poking its head out trying to be seen. but a great pov and colours. well done!

Olá Phillip!
Linda imagem, bem bucólica! As cores ficaram muito boas e a nitidez também! O campo forma um lindo contraste com o céu!
Parabéns e Abraço!

Hello Phillip,
I realy like the calm mountain's atmospeher that you are captured here. I also like the graphical composition (despite the horizon is 1/2 position) and the colours are realy vivid. Only the light seems to be too hard.
Otherwise, is good picture.

Hi Phillip,
I think that we should not read too much into the image here. It may be the Eiger, but it doesn't have to look imposing. Had some not known which mooutain this is, they might have liked it more. Who knows? To me, it is a beautiful image of a peaceful field with a mountain in the background. By the way, it may not look imposing, but apparently the Eiger is a very difficult mountain and is littered with bodies just to prove it. Cheers, Paul.
