Photographer's Note
Man this was maybe the coldest day for a very long time. Not so much the temperature with around - 10 degrees C but the Easterly winds with a little snowfall too, it made if feel like a lot colder. Some of our lakes are free for ice skating, also parts of Lake of Zurich in the Rapperswil area. I was watching the news closely and before they opened this lake, we were on our way. I was honestly scared at some point when we walked over the ice that I had done something to my fingers not wearing my cloves for some minutes, they really hurt but I mean for some photos sometimes you are prepared to go too far ... but what am I writing, you know all what I mean. It is very strange standing on a lake and you trust the lake police that they have measured correctly. They had some doubts if they could open the lake today, the snow had stopped the ice from growing, it isolates it too much. But here we are, we had the luck. I love this moment when you step on the ice, scary and wonderful at the same time, nature treating us with an outstanding spectacle.

Hi Barbara,
Superb minimalist composition! It looks like a b&w version in spite of it has been executed in color. The visual effect is unique and so attractive! Well done. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Barbara,
This photo makes me thinking about one of your previous shot with a lonely walker on a Irland's beach. But this time you placed the lost people on the right side of the frame ;-)
I like this kind of shot, in white spirit, with few elements, but well visible, and with a good feeling of space.
Yves.

Hello Barbara
The ultimate in high-key subject-matter! This is beautiful, and I love the fact that you've chosen a vertical format, as most would not have done I suspect. Also, I believe you've sensibly over-ridden your camera's meter, which on its own would have rendered this scene much darker. An excellent example of how less is more in photography!

Hello Barbara,
I like the huge space in this image with the main subject small but clear. The very cold day is well illustrated - very good work.

Hello Barbara,
We were always taught that the negative space was as important as the positive; nothing shows that statement better than this shot. Your clever composition makes us scrutinise the tobogganer so precisely and we can add our own interpretation. Super!
have a good Sunday,
Bev :-)

Elle superbe cette photo minimaliste, une scène de vie dans un environement tout en blanc.
la luge et l'enfant donne vie dans un lieu où le froid règne.

Hello Barbara
Great silhouette of the kid, playing in what seems like splendid isolation. Let's hope his clothes were splendidly insulating too ;)
Great white.

Hi Barbara,
welcome to TE after a long gap with a stunning shot...
love this! Winter's stark landscape can also be incredibly beautiful and this shot illustrates that so perfectly. Captured flawlessly and a really powerful presentation.
Enjoy a peaceful Sunday.
I love your photography...I know you from Photofolia...I have also an account in Photofolia...but not regularly used...

Ciao Barbara,

Hi Barbara!
It's really nice to see you and your gallery here in TE. You really do have a lot of stunning photographs! I liked the endless feel of white tones all over, the composition, the spacing, the framework and the high key effect all works out very well. Bravo! My compliments!
best regards, and see you wherever!
