The Church of Wassen, a photo from Uri, East

Photographer's Note

Wassen has a jewel that most Swiss and many tourists to Switzerland cannot ignore – its baroque Catholic church that is perhaps the most outstanding in the whole of the country. The church in Wassen is certainly one of the most well-known in Switzerland, if not the most well-known, because it can be seen three times from the train because of the helical tunnels that help the train up and down the Gotthard ramp, but the church of St Gallus helps you get your bearings.
But how many people actually stop in Wassen to look inside the little church? It’s only a fraction of the people who pass by every day, but it’s tempting to say that they don’t know what they are missing.

Hi Miro,
This is indeed a very beautiful view. I have seen it many times from the railway and actually bben inside the church once. But that was in 1964 when I was on a bus trip through Switzerland. I understand you will miss this view when the new railway tunnel is completed.

This is Switzerland on his best, typical the wonderful village in the valley.
Lovely village with the church middle of the green area.
Composition and colors are perfect made.

I like the place where is located this church with the green mountain in the back, maybe I would crop a little more the bottom area and focused more in the building.. it looks like an interesting town,

Village houses and white church with the tower, well in contrast against the green slop.
