Just another city view, a photo from Sodermanland, Svealand

Photographer's Note

I have simple tastes in photography. When I saw that the city had provided this view with a black and a yellow frame, and the red and yellow signs at the bottom, I was happy enough.

I was hoping for a red or green electric kick-bike to turn up, but just for once I couldn't see any (an almost unique experience), so I had to make do with a lady on an ordinary bicycle to enliven the foreground.

This is at the southern end of the new bridge, made in China, that connects Södermalm island with Gamla stan (Stockholm's Old Town). You may have seen that bridge before, under different circumstances:

On both sides outside this view the construction work for the new sluice system is going on. The yellow crane is part of that.

Across the water, which is a bay of the Baltic Sea, is Skeppsholmen (Ships Islet), a small island with a number of museums.

The small ferry is on its way to the island of Djurgården.

danas smo komsije sa fotografijama na TE.
Lep pogled i trenutak, dobar tekst ...
Interesantni znakovi i arhitektura na suprotnoj obali, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perspektivom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa biciklistom.

Hej Gert

The cyclist and pedestrians seem to instinctively know which set of arrows applies to them and that the nearer one is for vehicular traffic. Good sharpness, colour and framing. Tfs!

The road signs are eye-catching. The point of view is showing the details of the buildings in the background. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Gert,

You use the long crane arm as frame, and light mast with five lamps at the other side.
Between see we the signs red-white with a bicyclist for the movement of your picture.
Also the boat and city are pleasant to look at.
Good presentation out a excellent angle taken.

I liked more the lower part of the compo, the upper part looks something empty in my opinion. nice details of the personages in movement and the strong colors breaking the grey mood around.

Hello Gert,

I rather like the idea of a ferry, carrying people around the neighbourhood, such a change from the ubiquitous taxis or buses, with which I am familiar!
Orange and yellow seem to be the colours of Södermalm. They are cheerful and bright.

The arrows, in connection with the crane and the lamppost, seem to create a rectangular frame for the cyclist maybe rushing to catch the ferry!
On the other hand, the trio of figures gazing at the progress of the ferry animate that section nicely.

No scooter ... no problem! We haven't encountered the scourge of the electric scooter YET!

Jeg kan godt lide de forskellige farverige vejskilte her foran det blå vand og de forskellige bygninger på den anden side. Cyklisten og båden er også godt kommet med og jeg kan godt lide det klare efterårslys.

Hi Gert,a corner of Stockholm undergoing changes with many works in progress, often considered disturbing elements by photographers but which here are decisive for enriching the composition with their bright colors like arrows or like the tall crane on the right that justifies the large amount of space left in the sky in the photo. Hello Gert,
I find it a beautiful view of the boat and the buildings at the other side of the water.
But I know you like these colourful traffic signs very much and the huge framing. Without it you would perhaps not have taken a picture.
In order to always have an electric kick bike on all your Stockholm photos from now on, you might want to buy one yourself, do all your trips with it and place it somewhere in the picture for each photo.
But that would be cheating of course. Just as if you would always take a female friend with you, ask that she always dresses in red and then you have a lady in red everywhere you like :)

Yes - the framing and the curve road signs add plenty of interest to the foreground with a good urban scene across the water.

The yellow/red road signs added vivid colors to the city and waterway scenery.

Magnificent composition with this view of the lesser known city, it seems that the tall lighthouse and the yellow crane frame the scene, the lady on the bike and the striking traffic signs are a good complement to the composition.

Hello Gert, the traffic signs and the long arm of the crane are so brightly coloured that they help your shot to stand out in the thumbnails.
The vertical (portrait) presentation works so well, it would have been annoying if you hadn't managed to include the top of the crane's arm.
The woman on her bicycle is an important element too.

All the primary colours in the signs (if you include the round one with a bus). An ordinary bike will have to do. :-)
I have been to Skeppsholmen, but on a much less sunny day.
