Photographer's Note

Here again the same reindeer as in the picture from yesterday. This time I came a little closer. The distance was about 20 meters.

No, I'm not crazy. At least not in such a way. These animals are unlike their North American relatives - the Cariboos - not completely wild. Although the Swedish reindeers spend their entire lives outdoors in the wild... they belong to the Sami, so they are a bit familiar with humans. Not really calm, but they know us.

When I go near to the animals of the forest, I make them notice me. I talk to them, sometimes even sing for them to calm them down. It used to work for the cowboys in handling with the cattle on the prairie and it works as well with other animals. Mostly I can convince them that I'm a nice guy and do not want to attack them.

Of course I do not go so close to all types of animals. A bear or a wolverine for example, I do not want to meet closer.

If you look at this animal closer, you can see that it loses “fluid”. It is a coincidence. I have noticed this just after developing the film.
