Photographer's Note

The iron works at Engelsberg are so representative and well kept that it has been granted World Heritage status. This picture shows the main office building built as the "new" office in 1915. It has a very typical design with timber painted in Falu Rödfärg. Also the roof, the portico and the standing white timber are typical architectural details of the time.

The iron works in Engelsberg was used for many hundred years. After being run as a cooperative of farmers it was run as a company from about 1680 until 1919.
