Photographer's Note
This picture from Stockholm was inspired by the comic strip Zits that although all American runs as a daily strip in our local paper Borlänge Tidning. As parents of two teenage boys Zits is a daily support in our struggle to try to get just a little bit of common ground and communication. The guy on the bench reminded me so much of Jeremy in Zits as he sits in the middle of one of the prittiest city sceneries you can find in the best wheather there is. And what does he do, does he take part of the scenery or the buzzing spring life of the city? No he stairs down in his pocket book, no eyes for anything around him and of course - the freestyle is on. All communications closed. But for some reason he choosed to do it here, this is not a place you come to by chance as there are no home, shools or shops around. So maybe he kind of likes the place and the life around him after all.
BTW - the cardboard box in the background is Kungliga slottet, the Royal Castle of Stockholm.

ohhhhhhhh aborrescence!!!
when i was @ his age (16, 17?) and even younger, i used to go to the beach in Rio (Ipanema, have you heard about it?) and just laid down on the sand and could read for hours, apart from the magnificent scenery around me...
for some, Ebbe, looking to the surroundings is something brand new :))
Galeota showed almost the same scene in another pic some days ago...
literature + music are kind of refreshing/feeding/relieving stuff.
and it´s also a matter of mood, i guess...
anyway, adolescence does not last forever, unfortunately.
the place is wonderful, its architecture is fantastic.
and your words brought me back in time somehow.
thank you.

An excellent composition, Ebbe, and a very nice tight framing of the background. The teenager on the bench is perfectly positioned; the bench is perfectly positioned and these two are perfectly positioned visa vi the archipelago boats and the Royal Castle. Wonderful sharpness and color balance. It doesn't get much better than this!!
Although a long time ago, I kind of understand him - living in a world of his own. I had a Summer being around 15, going to the movies every night at seven and nine o'clock! I guess his choice of place is a question of smell - the Baltic Sea has a special smell and add a bit of tar and I'm 15 again... ;o) You did a magnificent job - well done! Thanks!
