Photographer's Note

... but why?

(some data from Wikipedia)

Many places have been compared with Venice in Italy, usually due to a high density of waterways (especially inner city canals) and/or maritime trade connections.

'Venice of ...'

'... the North'

* Amsterdam
* Birmingham
* Bruges
* Bydgoszcz
* Giethoorn
* Hamburg
* Manchester
* Ottawa
* St Petersburg
* Stockholm
* Aalborg

'... the South'

* Zakynthos
* Tarpon Springs, Florida
* Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi
* Sete in France

'... the East'

* Bangkok, Thailand
* Udaipur in Rajasthan
* Alleppey in Kerala
* Lijiang in China
* Nan Madol on Pohnpei, Fed. States of Micronesia
* Suzhou, China
* Zhouzhuang in China

'... the West'

* Nantes
* Galway (quote from Yeats)
* San Antonio, Texas
* Ontario, West Gwillimbury, Ontario

* Basra — Venice of the Middle East
* Cranford — The Venice of New Jersey

... but why? All the named towns have it's own character and beauty... Each of them have something unique, not paragonable to Venice... and at the end this scheduling sounds like McDonalds hamburger or Coca Cola... no offence, but what do you think about that?

From a series... Direction >>> Nordkapp
I've recovered some negatives from 10 years ago and scaned them in a photo lab. Don't think to make a travelogue because I know only aproximative where I was driving ;))

Pictures were taken with borrowed P&S camera Olympus Myu on just normal 200 ISO Fuji film.
