Photographer's Note
Tour skating on ice (in Swedish "långfärdsskridskoåkning") is now a popular sport in Sweden. Maybe the best conditions in the world are those found around Stockholm with a considerable number of both large and small lakes plus the extensive nearby archipelago in the Baltic Sea. The smallest lakes may freeze normally in November, although the main season usually starts in December and lasts until March or April. Snow is not a major problem in this part of Sweden because in cold periods there are often areas of unfrozen water that can still freeze, and in mild periods the snow melts down to slush in the daytime and freezes to ice during the night.
The Baltic around Stockholm does not freeze every year, but when it does skating there is a very special experience. The lakes also offer outstanding conditions for great tours. On the large Lake Mälaren it is very popular to skate between the many towns situated along the shores and experienced skaters may skate 100 kilometers or more in a day. Most medium-sized and small lakes are located in very beautiful forest landscapes, giving skating there a special character.

Bonjour Anders,
Très belle compo avec une belle lumière.
Il y malheureusement du "bruit" sur l'ensemble de la photo.
J'ai fait un petit WS pour atténuer le problème.
Amitiés.

Hi Anders,
very impressive shot. It doesn't look the water is frozen. The reflection is perfect. It looks they are floating on the water. Did you use a high iso? I can see some color noise on the sky but the ws images show it's an easy job to fix it. Very well done!

Carlos

Hi Anders,
Such a different vision on ice!
The reflections are just superb, the light dramatic and the atmosphere fantastic. I think this image has to be clear like ice, therefore i did a workshop for you. Hope you like.

Deniz

Hi Anders,
Wow, what a reflection. It feels like there is a bit of water on the ice, otherwise it could never reflect this nicely. Guess that's the slush you're describing. Nice note as well. Thanks for sharing!!

Hi Anders,
Wonderful view where wet ice creates perfect reflection. Skaters bring colour and action to the scene. Somewhat noisy like others have noted.

Hej Anders,
This looks really marvellous, beautiful weather and perfect ice. Unfortunately there are few opportunities for långfärdsskridskoåkning here on the west coast. This Christmas we had too mild weather and a lot of rain. No ice whatsoever!

Beautiful shot, Anders. This really deserves more critiques. The colour, light and reflection are great. Perhaps the ISO was too high, because it is very 'noisy' and Max did a good job to remove the noise. I love the capture of the skaters in action; everything else looks so still. I'm sure it is the first photo I have seen on TE of skating. Very nice indeed.
Best wishes for the coming year!

Andrew

Hej Anders!
Det har nog varit lite vatten pa iset här tror jag i och med att reflektionen är så pas bra. Även om mölnen var många så är ljuset det också. Jag antar at solen sken under mölnen?

Ufff, It was difficult...
And about the photo. For me it is incredible, that the ice is transparent - here, in Poland, if lakes freeze, it is white...I think because of the fact, we have a lot of snow in the winters...usually. Great light and composition,
Halsningar,
Anna

Hej Anders,
I saw this in your gallery as a random photo. This mirror reflection on the ice looks fantastic :) Ice or mirror? LOL
There is some noise in the photo, but I see that there's already a variant without the noise in the WS :)
Very well captured moment!
bästa hälsningar,
Elena
